Attention: not all contributions have to be monetary! We are looking for donation in a variety of forms such as foodstuffs, construction materials, and uniforms, among others. Here’s how anybody can help our organization achieve its full potential:

  • Our team members need nutrients to keep them energetic and willing to work. Any restaurant and/or food distributor can help us by donating to us pizza, sandwiches, burgers, soda, water, sports drinks, etc.
  • The kit of parts we receive from F.I.R.S.T. does not contain all the materials we will ultimately require. Many of these excluded parts can be found at a hardware supplies store. Donations of lumber, PVC, aluminum plating, rope, spray paint, and other miscellaneous tools would be greatly appreciated.
  • Machine and metals shop services such as welding would be necessary to utilize our supplies for chassis and manipulator construction. Expertise would be welcomed.
  • Uniforms to represent both our school and team spirit are mandated by F.I.R.S.T. at all regional tournament events, including our own at Portland, Oregon. Clothing printers and suppliers are encouraged to donate for this specific requirement.
  • Teams traditionally distribute publicity information about themselves to each other. Therefore, we are looking at donations in banners, pins, buttons, brochures, etc.
  • The hope of the robotics experience would be for students ultimately to enter engineering related professions. If you are an organization that offers this sort of career, our students would most appreciate an opportunity to tour your facilities or to obtain an internship there.
  • Our team would be honored by anybody who wishes to volunteer and mentor our members in the process of building a successful, able robot. Technical experience is not required, as publicity, finance, programming, graphical design, construction design, management, and website assistance are all invaluable to us.

The various benefits of sponsorship include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational organization, donations in any various means to us by both companies and individuals are eligible to be tax deductible.
  • We would be thrilled to offer your company additional public exposure through various means: our team uniforms, our official website, certain published materials, team publicity materials, even the robot. Specifics can be negotiated.
  • We would gladly let you publicize your contribution to our robotics team. The sponsor would receive an official certificate or plaque of appreciation, contingent upon level of sponsorship. Once again, details can be discussed.
  • Most importantly, it is imperative in a capitalist society that the private sector takes charge of philanthropic deeds. Any and all corporate entities can claim to support their communities, but only so many actually reach out and make a difference. The F.I.R.S.T. vision may be worldly, but the students who make it happen belong to your neighborhood. Humanity does not have a future without active, hands-on science education, of which you can play a leading role. Knowing that you did ought to speak for itself.

As an Associated Student Body (A.S.B.) sanctioned school organization, Team 1899 must raise funds beyond what our school and immediate families can provide. Our funding is not only indirectly restrained by the yearly budget of our public senior high school, but also by the inherent necessity for the budget to accommodate both curricular and extracurricular demands. Fundraisers and donations simply do not suffice, let alone cover our initial F.I.R.S.T. registration fee of $6,000. Of course, there exist the aforementioned needs to fulfill, as well.

We ask you to join us in promoting the mission of F.I.R.S.T., the belief that science and technology can change our world for the better. Please aid us in this cause, for the betterment of society through the grassroots up.
